Clinical Update: Cast Care

Taking care of your cast, you should immediately contact hospital or treating orthopedic surgeon, if any of the following problems occur:

1. Loose, cracked or broken cast.
2. Numb, cold or discoloured (blue) toes/fingers of affected limb.
3. "Pins and needles" sensation or numbness of the limb.
4. Pain or burning sensation of the limb.
5. Stained or smelly cast.
6. Severe or persistent itching.
